    I have a simple question. The total number of I-485s pending as per USCIS is around 220,000. If we have 130000 EB visas every year, will the backlog be cleared in just 2 years?

    exactly , thats y i tried to make a poll and bring it under one thread , but seems i forgot to make it open poll , so cant see who is polling .. any idea how to edit the poll ? can any one of the moderators make this poll viewable .. i dont have the option to edit poll it seems .

    I came in on an F1 and got transfered to a H1B without leaving the country.
    My H1 was approved for 3 years ie till 2012.
    Due to problems at my work place, my H1 got revoked by my employer.
    I'm in the medical profession, hence, jobs are few and far between if removed form a training program such as I was in. The next cycle of jobs dont start employment till July 2011.
    I am currently within the 180 day limit.
    What are my options? My countrys consulate is known to be tight fisted with visas, especially as I have overstayed since I lost my job abruptly.
    If my fiance and I do get married, am I eligible for for adjustment of status?

    Please help!

    I had my tests done on Monday, X-Ray on Wednesday and my paperwork is ready today (Friday). All in all, it took about a week. Don't know about other doctors....this is in Milwaukee, WI.

    hello...

    I was on H1.. but i quit my job and i am currently enrolled as a Full time student.
    I need to go to Mexico as part of my Study program....

    I have received the change of status from USCIS..but i need to get my passport stamped..

    I have not been successful in getting an appointment in Canada....

    >> Can i go to mexico and get the visa stamped during my stay there..is it risky???

    >> i cam here on F1-h1-now back to F1.... do i have to go to my country of origin to get my visa stamped.

    Hi Folks,

    Just read this on msnbc. Seems like they take away your electronic devices (laptop, digital camera, cellular, e.t.c) and then access all the info on the device. I am traveling in a weeks time and was taking with me all the above mentioned items. Now I am weighing the risk of traveling with my personal information on these devices. Not that i have anything illegal to hide, but still i consider this an invasion of my privacy. Any thoughts?!

    Today's news that Indiana Democratic Senator Evan Bayh will be retiring is probably bad news for much of the Democrat's legislative agenda. But when it comes to immigration, this is probably a good news day. Bayh's last vote on comprehensive immigration reform was a bad one. He voted with anti-immigration Senators to filibuster the 2007 version of comprehensive immigration reform and there is little reason to believe his vote in 2010 would be different.     Hi

    My Mother in law appeared at hyderabad US consulate and IO told her that she got visa but asked her to come up with new passport, becoz some letters in her current passort has faded out.

    Is this happend with any one? and what we do in this situation after getting new passport?
    I mean do we need another appointment or just go with new passport and drop?

    Please through some thouts.

    Is it possible to upgrade a pending I-485 (EB3 I-140) with a newly approved EB2 I-140?
    Is there any USCIS mandated procedure to do that?

    I think it will be taken care automatically, ( since your A number on I 485 and new I 140 will be the same )

    Lets say, after getting EAD and AP and 6 months after filing for I-485, you want to switch jobs to another company but want to do an H1B transfer to a similar position. Do we still have to start the green card process from scratch to remain on H1B?
